VOLUNTARY RECALL NOTICE

April 21, 2017

The safety of our consumers is our top priority. As such, we have taken the precautionary measure of issuing a voluntary recall of our Miss Vickie’s® Jalapeño flavour kettle cooked potato chips due to the potential presence of Salmonella in the seasoning used in the product. This action is the direct result of a supplier’s recent recall of a seasoning blend which includes jalapeño powder that could contain Salmonella.  Although no Salmonella was found in the finished seasoning supplied to Miss Vickie’s and no illnesses have been reported to date, out of an abundance of caution we have decided to recall this one product.

Only one Miss Vickie’s® flavour is impacted by this recall and it was distributed in three bag sizes nationally in Canada to grocery, drug and mass retailers, foodservice outlets and vending machines. The company is recalling:

• 40 gram bags of Miss Vickie’s® Jalapeño flavour kettle cooked potato chips with UPC: 060410001769 with “Guaranteed Fresh” dates of June 20 or earlier. This is sold in two formats:
o 40 count cases containing only Miss Vickie’s® Jalapeño flavour with Case Code: 22124
o 36 count assorted case containing six units of Miss Vickie’s® Jalapeño flavour with Case Code: 20558
• 220 gram bags of Miss Vickie’s® Jalapeño flavour kettle cooked potato chips
o UPC: 060410066386 with “Guaranteed Fresh” dates of June 20 or earlier
o Case Code: 26638

No other Miss Vickie’s® flavours or products are impacted by this recall.

Our records indicate that the impacted products were delivered to you.  It’s imperative that we locate, isolate, and remove from commerce any of these impacted products as soon as possible.  Our sales team will begin retrieval actions immediately and we would appreciate your support in removing these products from your inventory so they can be picked up and credited.  Please also check for any inventories of expired/damaged units as they are also included in this action.  If your internal process is to destroy product, please advise and provide us with written confirmation of destruction which includes number of units by sku, by location.

We also need your support to contact any of your customers who purchased this product.  Please feel free to share this letter with those customers.

The company is working closely with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) to ensure the products are removed from the marketplace and no longer distributed.

This voluntary recall will cause a disruption to normal service levels for Miss Vickie’s® Jalapeño flavour kettle cooked potato chips.  We are working hard to minimize that and will keep you posted on timing. In the meantime, please direct any questions to your account manager.  We appreciate your partnership and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thank you,
